The seven "oroi" represent seven nations/empires, the seven continents of the Earth (for Australia, for instance, is both a nation & a continent), the seven hills on which many "great cities" (Rev. 17:18) are built, and seven "kings" (most of which are types of the Antichrist) or highly exalted people such as the "Seven Sages of Ancient Athens" which was one of the many cities of world-influence built on seven hills. The Bible often speaks of nations as mountains: "I will render unto Babylon and to all the inhabitants of Chaldea all their evil that they have done in Zion in your sight, saith the LORD. Behold, I am against thee, O destroying mountain, saith the LORD, which destroyest all the earth" (Jeremiah 51:24-25) The Bible also speaks of people as mountains, as is evident from Rev. 17 which speaks of "seven kings" immediately after mentioning "seven mountains," and from passages such as: "The day of the LORD of hosts [THE TIME OF JESUS' SECOND COMING, which is quickly approaching] shall be upon every one that is proud and LOFTY [EVERYONE in Part Three], and upon every one that is lifted up" (Isaiah 2:12) & Daniel 4:17-19 where King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon is compared to "a tree of great height" which is "visible to the ends of the Earth." That the "oroi" represent the seven continents of the Earth (each of which contain one of the "Seven Summits" of seven mountains) is clear from the facts that "the great whore...sitteth upon many waters" (Rev. 17:1), "the waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues. (Rev. 17:16), she "reigneth over the kings of the Earth" (Rev. 17:18), & "by thy sorceries were all the nations deceived." (Rev. 18:23) This means that the Earth represents Satan "the god of this world" (2 Cor. 4:4) in whose power "the whole world lies" (1 John 5:19), since the seven heads Babylon sits on belong to the seven-headed scarlet beast (as the Earth is scarlet because there has been & will be especially during the Great Tribulation much bloodshed over the entire Earth), which is depicted as Satan "the dragon" in Rev. 12! This opinion is further supported by the fact that the Earth is personified as the Greek goddess Gaia, but the "gods" are all demons in disguise (1 Cor. 10:19, Deut. 32:17); I show in Part One how all the giant moons/planets symbolize Satan (the Moon & Jupiter the largest of the planets) & his demons (the smaller planets & moons) a.k.a. "spiritual powers of wickedness among the heavenly beings" (Eph. 6:12), in part since they are named after gods & Shakespeare's evil characters.
Babylon "the great city that reigneth over the kings of the Earth" (Rev. 17:18): New York City, Imperial Rome, Ancient Athens, Paris during Enlightenment times, etc. (except for the cities in the U.S. mentioned below, the others are perhaps all simply foreshadowings of the Babylons which will be destroyed by the 10 kings of Rev. 17)
Astoundingly, there are over forty cities on "seven hills" (Rev. 17:9), & many of them exceedingly resemble "Babylon the great whore," "the great city which reigns over the kings of the earth" (Rev. 17:18) & of whose "wine" "all the nations are drunk"! These include:

Arrogant people are often called "mountains" in the Bible, as is Nebuchadnezzar King of the Babylonian Empire in Daniel 4! was ruled by Pericles, founded by Theseus, and inhabited by King Oedipus, Socrates-Plato-Aristotle, Aeschylus-Sophocles-Euripides, etc. who were all types of the Antichrist "king of Babylon" (Nimrod the first king of Babylon slept with his mother "The Queen of Heaven" Semiramis as Oedipus did!) who "will be like the Most High" Jesus!!! -the source & present or former headquarters of the anti-Christ world religions Judaism, Catholicism, Orthodoxy, Islam, Buddhism, & Hinduism: Jerusalem (which like Babylon the Great in 17:18 is called "the great city" in 11:8), Rome the seat of the Pope "the king of Babylon", Constantinople/Byzantium/Istanbul the home of "Babylon Bar" & a music club called "Babylon"& the seat of the Patriarch the leader of the Orthodox Church "the king of Babylon", Moscow (where sits St. Basil's Cathedral which is dedicated to the paganized Virgin Mary instead of Christ) the seat of the Patriarch leader of the Russian Orthodox Church & which was written about in a book called Moscow Babylon about Moscow's decadence, Mecca in Saudi Arabia the former seat of the Caliphate the leader of Islam "the king of Babylon" & which like Tirumala & Vatican City is the main pilgrimage site of a world religion, Macau (the home of "Babylon Casino") in China where about 93% of the population is Buddhist & which is the home of the Chinese Buddhist Communities Project "to make an important contribution to the cause of interreligious dialogue worldwide" & of the "Centre of Buddhist Studies," Tirumala in India, home to a Hindu temple "visited by about 60,000 people daily, making it the second most visited holy place after the Vatican"

The language describing Mystery Babylon in Rev. 17-18 is applied to many cities such as Jerusalem/Israel (ex. in Lamentations 1:1 & Deut. 4:6-8 vs. Isaiah 47:5 & Jeremiah 51:41), Nineveh "the great city" (ex. Jonah 1:2 & Zephaniah 2:15 vs. Revelation 17:18 & Revelation 18:7-8 & Isaiah 47:8), Tyre (Ezekiel 26), Calneh the original capital of the Assyrian Empire (Genesis 10), etc.
